🍚 Over 30 Million Nigerians Face Acute Food Insecurity — New Report Warns ⚠️

 

A new report has revealed that 30.6 million Nigerians across 26 states are at risk of acute food and nutrition insecurity during the upcoming lean season — a period between harvests when food supplies typically run low.

The alarming figure was released by the Cadre Harmonisé, a regional food security framework supported by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other international partners.

Experts say rising food prices, insecurity in farming areas, and the high cost of living are worsening hunger levels nationwide. Many households are struggling to afford basic meals, forcing families to skip food or depend on humanitarian aid.

The report urges urgent action from the government and stakeholders to support farmers, improve food distribution systems, and address the root causes of poverty and conflict driving the crisis.
